Saturday

A better day today - things get into proportion when you have slept on them I find.   When I opened the curtains this morning it was to thick fog and although it has cleared the dullness has remained all day.

This afternoon friend W and I went looking for a very small table for my kitchen so that when I am alone and actually eating at home, I can sit in the kitchen and eat rather than carry my meal through to the dining room.  We found just the thing.

Then we came home from Richmond the long way round, through Swaledale along a beautiful route by the side of the River Swale.   I apologise for having no photos to show you but packing my battery charger was a stupid idea.   We were hoping for Autumn colour in the trees but we were too early - almost all were still wearing their Summer green.

We made a slight detour to call in at a cafe for a pot of tea and a slice of cake (Victoria sponge for W and Coconut cake for me - both home made and both delicious).   Home again by four o'clock.

It is almost beginning to get dark so it is close the farm gate, draw the curtains and feel cosy for the night.   Just a cup of tea will do for me so feed Tess and then sit and do the Guardian Quick Crossword - my son has already done it today so must not let him beat me.

Glad you are feeling better today.
I Wonder how they check the equal-ness of light and dark to know the exact day of equinox? but I'm not going to stay up all night to check!!

Beautiful sunny and warm day here in Kent after a cloudy start. Travelled through the Kent countryside to a lovely NT place called Scotney Castle. Lots of autumn colours now showing in the trees. Supposed to be warmer and sunnier tomorrow.

Slept in a little this morning Pat... Did up the dishes and served us leftover homemade soup for lunch... Then played with my crafts most of the day... Hubby spent the day welding on his trailer... putting gates on it... Now he is inside cooling off playing video games... I will soon put something together for us for supper... I'd like to take a walk this evening but its still so hot here... a cool down expected soon !! Yeah!! I'm glad your feeling a little better my dear! Hugs! deb

Enjoy your new little kitchen table! Simplifying matters - that's the way to go. And you should trust your own feelings; only they'll tell you what's right and wrong for you.

We can't be beaten by the young just yet, can we?! Glad you had an enjoyable day out and found your table. My kitchen is very well laid out but so tiny I couldn't fit the smallest of tables in it. The dining area is only a step away so it isn't a problem.
The weather down here is quite erratic and it is a job to decide if, or how many, layers are needed. Oddly some trees are already beginning to show autumn colours.

When I redid my kitchen I didn't think there was room for a table but found a very small one, and glad I did, it is just right for one and I use it all the time.

I have those days, too; I'm always quite aware of the fact that I'm in a funk, and know from experience that those feelings will pass, sometimes within just a few hours of the same day, but if not, I just remember the immortal words of Scarlett O'Hara: "Tomorrow is another day".
